World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades increase the value of certain numeric stats on armor, weapons and rings. Upgrades also boost bonuses like Crit chance and PvE Damage.

If the template for upgrading a weapon ends in %, it will increase 3% of its previous damage every time it's upgraded.

The cost of upgrading an item upgrader mod is determined by the item's level. The cost increases as the item level increases.

Components

Upgrade components can be added to weapons, armor and trinkets in order to provide them with a boost in stats or to add an additional effect. These can be obtained by crafting, buying from vendors, trading with other players or looting. Certain upgrades also come with specific cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be inserted into any equipment with a slot for them. The item must have been at least upgraded to the blue level to allow a component to be inserted. Upgrade components, unlike other mods can only be applied once. They are not able to be replaced or applied several times. Infusions and upgrade item Enrichments are a kind of upgrade component used to upgrade non-amulet legendary or Ascended equipment, as well in some items that aren't ascended. Infusions and enrichments can be recovered by salvaging gear from the ascended, or by completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

An upgrade may include a suffix or prefix, modifying the name of the equipment with which it is applied (for examplethe 'Canthan Armor Insignia is changed to Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades can increase the Mark Rarity or Level of an item, which lets players to create stronger versions using fewer Upgrade crystals than they would require to reach the same level with normal methods.

A 'boost upgrade' can alter the attack or defense attributes of a weapon or armor. Once the player has completed the cutscene and defeated the Crazed Mechanist the upgrades can be made at the Portative Forging Station. They can be dropped by enemies when upgrading other gear or buying them from the cash store for 500 upgrade crystals.

Each upgrade increases the likelihood that a better-quality version of an item will be dropped during the next reset. This gives players a reason to upgrade their gear, even in the event that they don't know what can be improved upon an update.

The process of upgrading an item could be expensive, and it is possible that the item will become obsolete or even break if the upgrade fails. Upgrade Crystals and assist powders are also destroyed if the upgrade fails. This is reduced by the availability of cash shop items that double or even eliminate possibility of failure, and a few upgrades that give an additional benefit when they are inserted into an item.

Glyphs

Glyphs can be used to upgrade the Paragon Board by placing them in sockets that are specifically designed for. Glyphs buff the power of all nodes within the area around them as well as existing affixes on equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded various ways, and we recommend getting them up to level 15 as soon as you can.

In the final game, you will often find that the most effective way to upgrade your gear is by placing Glyphs. They are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded directly to level 15 and provide an enormous boost to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to reach higher nodes much faster.

Glyphs, the only upgrade component that can be removed without restriction and then replaced again are the most commonly used. The only exception is legendary equipment that requires an Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and re-place.

Each Glyph has a particular range of values that it can improve a stat by, and the value is shown when you select the Glyph in your inventory. You can decide to replace it with a different Glyph of the same rank, or a higher rank, which will boost the value of the glyph.

You can find Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of a Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain unlimited-use gathering tools and also through Faction Crypt raids. Each Faction Crypt could drop one of these Glyphs. There are some rare glyphs that you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.

Once you have obtained the desired Glyphs you will need them to be placed on your equipment. Each Glyph unlocks a bonus which will boost the stats of a specific set of nodes within a radius around the Glyph. Depending on the Glyph, this will either be +40 to one of your primary stats, or +25 to two of your secondary stats.

The use of the Glyph will boost all the nodes connected to it, so it is recommended to position your Glyphs near the most important nodes of the Graph to maximize the impact. For instance that a Druid should try to position their Glyphs near their primary damage nodes but also be sure to place them near the most critical damage nodes too.

Leveling

The upgrade system for items allows players to boost the power of certain items by adding upgraded components. This is known as "upping". Each upgradeable item is assigned a level which determines the final stats. Upgraded items may be leveled up to a maximum level of 385. Each level of item upgrader mod requires various components, and the cost of upgrading increase with each level.

Certain upgrades require a certain ingredient to activate. This ingredient can be obtained by completing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or on the upgrade Item tab of crafting tables. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed will result in a certain amount of Technology points. These points can be used for the upgrading of an item. Once enough points are earned you will be able to claim your upgrade and get its extra bonuses.

When a player upgrade a piece of equipment it is replaced by a new item. The same armor can be transformed into the form of a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item will have its own set bonus. This could be a drawback because it can make the item more expensive, even if you don't require it.

The upgrades to items can be rerolled, provided that the player has enough tokens in order to do so. The item upgrade will be replaced by an entirely new item that is based on a level 1 base and totally different bonuses. This can be useful however it shouldn't be done often as it can waste resources.

Some upgrades can be rerolled multiple times which increases their value and giving players the ability to alter their gear. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, as it provides an increase in power if the player continuously enters or leaves the water. It is possible to upgrade item it several times, each time increasing the maximum roll by a factor of 10. This item can be extremely useful in PvP battles, since a perfectly rolled version of it could be worth between 20 and 50 times its non-upp'd value.

Requirements

The ability to upgrade items allows players to increase the level of their available equipment--armor, weapons, and trinkets above ilvl 385--by providing the appropriate items and currencies to an item upgrader NPC. The upgrade of armor set pieces will also increase the base defense of the item, and upgrading weapon equipment will increase the damage base and the strength and dexterity required to match the requirements of the upgraded equipment.

Each item can be upgraded up to five times, with the exception for hero equipment, which is able to be upgraded eight times. Each time you upgrade an object, it has a chance of failing. The failure rate increases as you go over the maximum number. Failures can result in the item reverting to its original state which means that the player has to spend additional resources than if they had stopped upgrading after the maximum number.

If an item does not upgrade, the amount of accumulated experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. The item will also lose any bonuses it gained like chances to be crit attack damage, additional effects (such as increased heal over time or reloading speed). The player is able to use their weapon or armor even after the failure.

Whenever an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied from lowest to highest. This means that if a weapon gains a crit chance increase, the increase will be applied prior to any attack damage increases. A new attribute called Slots has been added to the definition of the item and the value is recomputed each time an upgrade is made.

The amount of resources required to upgrade an Best item upgrade is determined on the rarity rating as well as the number of upgrade slots. The upgrade cost for non-premium items is equal to the base value of the upgrade.
