World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading

Item upgrading allows players to increase an item's gear score up to 700 and also add an additional perk. Items can be upgraded by having them in inventory before heading to the kiln.

Certain items can be upp'd to benefit from their unique stats (like a perfectly broken point armour that is rolled for melee PvP) while other items, such as weapons don't change much post upgrade, and therefore aren't worth upgrading.

Weapons

Weapons can be upgraded to increase their numeric stats, such as damage to attack, crit chance PvE and damage to PvP. Weapons come with a flat-rate bonus that increases damage per second. In addition some weapons come with an added bonus that is activated when three or more of the same weapon is present on a unit. This bonus may be greater than the damage that a weapon upgrade items alone can do.

A weapon's upgrade costs depend on the rarity of the weapon and its current level. For example an item with a rating of +2 will require two regular Smithing Stones to upgrade while a +3 requires four. The number of stones required to upgrade a weapon will continue to increase until it requires a higher tier of Smithing Stones, at which point it will reset to one.

Upgrading weapons will also reroll their base stats. While this is usually beneficial, it can have some negative consequences too. Upgrades can make items inaccessible, unless you're exceptionally lucky.

Upgrades can be made to armor items to increase their effectiveness. This can increase the defense of a chest or helm, while belts and gloves can boost their strength and agility. Armor also has an option to reroll its Enhanced Defense percentage, which means that it can sometimes change its roll to a lower value.

The upgrade template for a weapon shows the new stats that it will get when upgraded in addition to their respective values. This means that an upgrade from an 8 attack-damage sword to an 11-attack-damage sword would result in a weapon gaining an attack damage of 3. The 3% doesn't mean that the weapon will be hit three times less, since it is an absolute number.

Rerolling a weapon is possible by pressing the green button in the item menu, using the arrows that are circling. The item level upgrade will be rerolled and alter its stats, but it will not reset the weapon's level or bind it to account status.

Armor

A few tweaks to your armor could make a huge differences in your ability to survive. Certain sets offer massive increases in poison or curse, fire, and magic resistance, which can make traversing tough areas a breeze. In general, the more defense you have for your character, the greater health you can get from each point. So, it's best to upgrade your armor.

To upgrade your armor, head to one of the Great Fairy Fountains in the game. There are four Great Fairy Fountains within the game, and to unlock them all, you must complete an additional quest that involves the Stable Trotters. After you've completed the main side quest and mastered the fountain that corresponds and then you can speak to any Great Fairy to open up the menu for upgrading your armor.

The amount of materials required to upgrade each piece of armor will vary. You'll need anywhere between three Red Chuchu jelly and 10 Rupees to upgrade the initial armor piece, and anywhere between five Rubies or 10 Fire-Breath Horns to upgrade the next one. The Champion Leathers, as an example can be upgraded to a +5 defense rating, which allows you to remain competitive in cold environments with a large group of enemies. The Snowquill Headdress, on the other hand, can be upgraded to +20 defense to ensure you can survive a raid with friends.

Be aware that armor can't be upgraded in the same way as weapons, so you'll need to work on upgrading it for physical strength if you're a Warrior or Spell Power when you're Mage. It's also a good idea to save your armor upgrades for the armor you'll wear at the end of the game, like the Ring of Lightning and Spectral Shield or the helmet you use for the final boss battle, the Monter Parts Merchant's mask.

You can also get some perks for your armor by giving the jeweler in Gerudo Town 10 Twinkling Titanite. You'll typically want to keep these upgrades for the weapon you'll be using to win the game. For instance, the Longsword or Battleaxe. However, it's beneficial to have a few upgrades to the armor on your chest and helmets to let you escape some monsters.

Potions

Potions are substances in bottles that, when consumed, give the player an effect on their status for a short period of time. There are five types of potions, each with particular effects and durations. Some potions may be upgraded, increasing the effectiveness of their effects. You can also enhance the effects of certain potions by including glowstone dust and redstone.

Upgrades to potion cost a certain amount of XP, which can be earned by crafting them on a crafting table or in an chest of the Alchemist. The price of upgrades is dependent on the kind of potion you wish to upgrade, as well as on the item level upgrade's Mark Level and Rarity.

To upgrade a potion you need to right-click it in your inventory. Then, select "Upgrade" from the menu. This will open a GUI that allows you to choose the potion that you would like to upgrade and the amount of experience they will offer when upgraded. Upgrades to potions can be made in batches of up to five at a single time, and the XP that they generate will be added to your current XP count.

Once a poton is upgraded, it will not degrade unless you take it out again or break the bottle within which it is kept. You can also rename the potion by clicking it in your inventory.

There were a few changes to the mechanics of potions in version 1.7.2. Splash potions, for example, now have a duration zero, not the 22.5 seconds shown on the hover display of the item. The table of potion now crafted from four Wood Planks, and two Glass. This allows it to be used by players playing Survival and Bedrock. In contrast to the Java Edition, Bedrock edition potions can't be mixed in cauldrons. Also, putting a potion on a full cauldron drains the contents and replenishes the bottle.

There are also simmering potions made using splash and dragon breath potions. Similar to lingering potions, the can be enhanced by adding redstone. The table of potion ingredients is now laid out more in line with the Java Edition, and new potions were added such as the potion of leaping and the potion of decomposition, and turtle master potions.

Trinkets

A trinket is a tiny and inexpensive ornament or piece of jewelry. It may be a reference to an object or ornament that serves a purpose but is not particularly significant, such as a tiny thimble. In certain cultures, a trinket is used to express friendship or affection between family members.

In addition to armor, weapons and potions, players can upgrade their trinkets. They can be upgraded by going to an upgrade vendor and paying the appropriate amount in currency. As with other upgrades to items trinkets, trinkets can be swapped out at will without losing their stats.

Upgrade vendors can be found at the capitals of every zone, and in some instances in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets are available with gold, tokens or fragments of a rare trinket.

Upgrades are a less expensive alternative to buying a new trinket. It can be done by players for less than 12 tokens. The new trinket will come with the same base ilvl of the previous one, and will have an additional 1% upgrade bonus.

When the old Trinkets are no longer usable they can be upgraded. This allows a player to increase their power and value with time. They can also be traded between players, making them a popular alternative to gold.

Players should upgrade their most essential items first. This usually refers to the most valuable-in-slot items for their class, then their secondaries, and finally other pieces of gear that they won't replace soon (for example an earring or cloak). When choosing the items to upgrade, players should take into account their class's preferred statistics. For example when Haste and Crit are the two most important stats for a tank, they should prioritize upgrading their chest, helm shoulders, belt, and helm.

Trinkets can be re-upgraded to a higher ilvl after they are no longer useful, and the new trinket will have an additional 1% upgrade bonus. However, a re-upgrade will cause the trinket to be destroyed, unless it is salvaged using the Black Lion Salvage Kit or a higher-tier salvage tool. This means upgrading trinkets is more expensive than other upgrades, yet is still cheaper than buying an entirely new trinket.
